Karen Kolkka is an artist and educator living in Philadelphia. Karen is a recent graduate of the MAT program at University of the Arts and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from University of the Arts. Currently employed at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy as a Lower School New Media Specialist, she has brought digital media to the curriculum and provides professional development to faculty with a focus on creative integration, and collaboration skills as well as developing proficiency with new tools. Scratch is one of the most effective of these tools and students truly enjoy discovering new ways to express themselves through the Scratch platform. Scratch teaches creativity, design and computational thinking as well as problem solving skills.
